At De Maiz, we take pride in using the traditional “Nixtamalization” process to create the finest tortillas on the market. We source our corn directly from small, sustainable family farms in Mexico, where it is handpicked to ensure exceptional raw material quality.
Our skilled use of volcanic millstones expertly grinds and cooks the corn into ‘Masa’ (a soft dough), before shaping and baking it on a ‘Comal’ (a traditional Mexican frying pan), resulting in the most authentic and delicious tortillas around.
Available in varying sizes and thicknesses, our tortillas are a wholesome, gluten-free, low-fat, and low-sugar food that is packed with excellent nutritional value.
Nixtamal – Short story
The Nixtamalization process is a traditional Mexican technique in which corn kernels are cooked in an alkaline solution. This process softens the outer skin, enhances the nutritional value of the corn, and makes it suitable for grinding into a dough.

Unlike other inferior products that are made from dry corn flour, gelling agents, and preservatives, we pride ourselves on solely using fresh nixtamal in our products, that is ground using a volcanic stone.
Our tortillas and other nixtamal corn products contain four simple ingredients only: corn, water, sea salt, and lime.
